Everybody has their own version of what they believe to be the truth. We all base our version (opinion) of the truth utilizing what it is that we perceive. Those perceptions are informed through our specific beliefs or belief systems. Meaning, we see the world through the lens of whatever it is we believe in, like a certain religion, political ideology, morals, ethics, philosophies, way of life, cultural tendencies, etc.
The firmer we hold onto what we believe to true, the more entitled we feel to having a monopoly on it.
There are seven billion people on this planet with wildly varying perceptions and experiences and therefore nearly an endless number of versions of the truth. No wonder there is so much acrimony and discord. So who is right? Who is wrong? And what is the real truth?
There are only two truths: Relative and Absolute.
Relative Truth is just that, relative to your perception. By definition, your thoughts and feelings must fit within your version of the truth otherwise you would need to disregard them. Disagreements, or far worse, are founded on the refusal to acknowledge and respect the legitimacy of someone else’s Relative Truth.
There are things that cause you to suffer but not others. There are things that bring you joy but not others. So, everyone’s Relative Truth is very personal, individualistic and subject to an infinite amount of variables. So where does that leave us?
That Relative Truth is the cause of all suffering and joy, which we know is subjective. Personal suffering is abound like depression, confusion, resentment, anger, jealousy, or collectively amongst different nations or countries which can lead to oppression, invasion or war.
If we see with our eyes and hear with our ears, we are open to suffering.
In order to bring meaning and universality to our respective Relative Truths, we must penetrate Absolute Truth and experience their inter-beingness.
What is Absolute Truth? By definition, it is just that, absolute. It is not subjective nor open to interpretation.
It is the silent, perpetual joy that exists outside of space and time when one comprehends and experiences the true nature of inter-beingness; the knowingness that All is One and anything to the contrary is a temporary illusion for us to experience and ultimately transcend.
See yourself in others, what harm can you really do?
The Kingdom of Heaven lies within all Men. Quiet your mind. Open your heart.
Then close your eyes and see…
